La Palapa at Paradisus Punta Cana Resort

Oooh spring break! After a while of going to all inclusive resorts you kind of get tired of the monotony but this year we decided to go and give it a try at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort... which Is actually not in Punta Cana, but Bávaro. About 30 mins. Away… Anyways I was pleasantly surprised with the quality service of all of their staff, everyone from gardening and security, to bartenders, customer service agents and even manager who walk around talking to customer frequently to make sure they are enjoying their stay. But also, the quality in every meal is just awesome, no matter if it´s buffet or a la Carte.

My favorite restaurant was La Palapa, even though I didn’t ‘have time to try them all. You have to make a reservation to go, it was no hassle and since we upgraded to Royal Service, no payment was needed after dinner :)…But alright, let´s get to it!

The view is just beautiful no matter the time of day. You´ll be enjoying your meal with Punta Cana white sand, palm trees and the ocean with no windows so you can relax and enjoy. I must highlight the service once again, because it is just top-notch which made our evening so much more superb.

As appetizers we ordered:

Panko fried shrimp with tropical sauce.Perfection is the word! From taste and texture of the shrimp to the harmony the sauces provided which was bitter-sweet. I had to order these the next day for lunch. I could eat a whole bowl of these.

Duck Fois Gras, to be honest I´m not a fan so I relied o my brothers’ palate for an honest review. He thought that by itself the taste wasn´t great but once you ate all the components together it was pretty good. Let me know what you think if you try it!

Shrimp and Lobster Ceviche with Passion Fruit Vinaigrette, this took me way to back to eating ceviche in Guatemala. The perfect amount of lemon and parsley with fresh shrimp and lobster…makes my mouth water by thinking of it. Please don’t miss out and order it! You can thank me later.

As Main Dish, me couldn´t resist, and 3 of us ordered the lobster tail with Tropical Fruits. This was a total hit, the lobster was tender and the seasoning was subtle and just enhanced the lobster natural flavor. The Tropical Fruits were grilled (watermelon, melon and pineapple) which were the perfect way to cook them for this dish. I give it 10 stars out of 5.

The salmon in capers and ginger sauce was also very sumptuous. The salmon was so soft; there was no need for a knife. And the capers were a nice surprised but really played well.

Although everyone was stuffed we couldn´t resist and orders dessert!!

Cheesecake with raspberry sauce, strawberry cream and honey crisp. Although cheesecake is not one of my favorite desserts this was pretty good. I loved the raspberry sauce which also made me curious where they got them from since it’s hard to see them at the super market here.

Apple cake with soursop and white chocolate.  This was not the best even though soursop is one of my favorite fruits ever, but I couldn’t really taste it here. Maybe I was just expecting to pop out more. Nevertheless it was pretty decent.

Caribbean fruit asymmetry with mango ice cream. This is a very delicate dessert, the mango lies on a thin bed of melon, pineapple and watermelon loops which played very well with the soft mango ice cream, very refreshing. For this one, we had seconds (insert naughty face here).

Last but not least, the Mango creamy pantxineta with hot chocolate. I had no idea what it was before I ordered it but sounds delicious! This is basically layers of phyllo dough with a thick mango cream topped with hot chocolate. No need to say no more, just enjoy the picture.
