Dominicans always adapt no matter where they, we take things and give it a twist , Sushi is not the exception. Although we do have outstanding sushi restaurants ,this one is a little different ;you can say it was thought for those who don’t like raw fish( or sushi itself).
Yokomo is a local food chain that has focused in making sushi Dominican style. Their decoration is very colorful and simple and has been in the market for a couple of years and its one of the local favorites . The names on their plate are written how it’s literally pronounced in english or named after a dominican expression, which also makes me chuckle when looking through the menu.

During my visit I had a small Watafuk (wtf in proper English) roll, which is my favorite and a must every time I come. It has fried shrimp wrapped in bacon, cream cheese, fried ripe plantains with eel sauce and honey. They ingredients although a bit random play well together and the plantain give it a nice touch as well as the honey.
I love that you can choose different roll size; it can be a 4, 8 or 12 piece.

Two other dishes were the Ñau Ñau which is basically a bowl of white rice where you pick your toppings. We had tempura shrimp with eel sauce and honey and one with fried chicken. I think this is a great option for those who don’t feel like eating sushi or just don´t like it. Here you´ll find options for everyone.

Take a look at the menu because they do have some hilarious names but also great combinations and alternatives for those who like to try new things. I would really recommend this if I you’re in town, is a little different but I promise your lunch will be nothing but fun.
Prices are reasonable, you have a fulfilling meal for around RD$500 or US$10 .
